My Review
A New Dawn by
Kamini Kusum is a heart wrecking, extremely emotionally driven and jovial story
of Indian society drama where a girl from an affluent family falls for a poor
boy. Will their love will find ways to meet the diversion between two different
strata of the society, to find out more I would recommend to you grab your
copies soon.
Story begins
with childhood scene like we happen to see in movies which talks about a rich
girl falling for a poor boy, how they met and became friends and later in their
lives they realize that they were in love with each other right from the
childhood but then they face same hurdle to meet their fate.
Mughda, the
female protagonist who is a daughter of a higher ranked railway officer happen
to meet Sharvan who is a son of a rickshaw puller, when they(Sharvan’s family)
started living in the outcast of their quarter and with time their friendship
grew deeper. The kids were having gala time together but later Mugdha’s father
got transfer to another city, eventually they got separated. For Shavan’s, his
life was no more normal, he and his family constant faced upheavals from the society
and due to poverty but he didn’t let his studies hamper his dreams. Will they
meet when they will grow up? Will strict father of Mugdha will accept them? Told
you to read the book.
The best part of
the book was the portion where poverty was described by the author. I really
enjoyed the segment. But then, having read the previous work by the author this
book has disappointed me a lot. I expected a story which would beat the previous
book but no. The story was simple and at some points the it felt it was bit stretched.
Another reason for not enjoying the book was the font size, I would like to
request the publishers to increase the font size, it really pained to read
small fonts. Talking about the language, it was way too simple; I expected
much. The storyline was so same almost matches with the Bollywood movies that
the portion of my heart longed for something magical, again I was disappointed.
For me I really
enjoyed the portion when the author launched a new character, Jhanvi. The
character building of this particular person was so elegantly put together that
I was hell bent to read her portion. Somewhere the other characters were bit
superficial but then she(Jhanvi) took my heart.
But the book
will be useful to those who like reading romantic books and wanted to go for a
light read. Overall, the book was decent I would rate 3/5 star for the simple
yet beautiful book.
